About TaskTrace

TaskTrace is a desktop app that continuously records your activity (screenshots, keystrokes, microphone) and turns it into a structured, searchable history of what you’ve been doing. Everything runs locally on your machine. Local AI models, local database. No cloud, no internet. Your data never leaves your computer. The data is then summarized and tagged by local LLMs so you get a rich analytics view of how your time is spent. The data is also exposed through a local MCP server so your other agents (Claude, Codex, OpenClaw) can read your activity history and automatically understand what you've been doing.

Product Insights

TaskTrace is a free desktop application that combines activity monitoring with local LLM processing to create a searchable history of user actions across screenshots, keystrokes, and audio. • Full privacy with 100% local data storage and offline AI processing.
  • Native MCP server support to expose activity history to Claude and other agents.
  • Comprehensive capture of screenshots, keystrokes, and microphone input.
  • Available as a free desktop application for analytics and task management.

Ideal for: Developers, freelancers, and solopreneurs who need to provide local activity context to AI agents or track their productivity without cloud data exposure.

Strong concept—“local-first quantified work history” is the real differentiator here, especially with MCP access for other agents. The privacy angle + structured AI summaries makes it more compelling than typical productivity trackers.

Combining productivity tracking with local AI agents is an interesting combo. Keeping your workflow data local and private while getting AI assistance is a solid approach.
