About Decision Debt

Decision Debt is an application designed to make the mental cost of deferred decisions visible. Based on the Decisive Edge framework, the tool allows you to log unresolved choices and score them based on stakes and reversibility. It calculates a real-time 'debt' price for each delay, helping you prioritize actions by urgency without obscuring the true cost of procrastination. You can settle debt by deciding, delegating, or dismissing tasks, while building a long-term track record of your settle rate and carry time. What makes it different Most productivity tools treat every open item the same — a task is a task, sorted by due date. Decision Debt separates decisions from tasks and prices them on two dimensions that actually predict the psychological weight of deferring: stakes and reversibility. That's the core departure from to-do lists, priority matrices, and Eisenhower-style tools — it's not asking "what's urgent," it's asking "what's this delay actually costing you." A few things that set it apart: The debt price is honest, not gamified. Deadlines reorder what you tackle first, but they never change the underlying cost calculation — so the headline number stays a real measure of accumulated cost instead of a motivational trick that inflates whatever's due soonest. Most "urgency" apps quietly let deadline pressure masquerade as importance; this one keeps them separate on purpose. Nothing is a black box. Every debt figure traces back to inputs you entered — stakes and reversibility — so you can always see why a number is what it is. No hidden weighting, no proprietary algorithm you have to trust blind. It measures resolution, not just capture. Logging a decision is easy; most tools stop there. Decision Debt tracks your settle rate and carry time over time, so you get a real record of how fast you actually resolve things — not just a growing list of things you meant to. Three honest ways to settle, not one. Decide, delegate, or dismiss — all three clear the debt. That reflects how deferred decisions actually get resolved in practice; forcing everything toward "complete the task" ignores that punting to someone else or consciously dropping something are legitimate resolutions too. Privacy by architecture, not policy. Everything stays on-device — no account, no server, no data collection. Your open decisions never leave your phone, which matters given how sensitive a running list of "things I'm avoiding" can be. Built on a named framework, not ad hoc. It's a direct implementation of the Decision Debt concept from the Decisive Edge series, so the categories aren't arbitrary UI choices — they map to a specific theory of why deferred decisions cost more than deferred tasks.

Hey everyone 👋 Built this because my to-do list wasn't the real drain; it was decisions I kept deferring. Prices the delay, clears via decide/delegate/dismiss. iPhone & Android. Feedback welcome!
