About DevSpecs
DevSpecs is a repository-native work layer for AI coding agents. It gives agents a searchable history of project intent, decisions, plans, evidence, and previous work so they can quickly explore project boundaries and retrieve the context relevant to the task at hand. Instead of relying on chat history or large static instruction files, agents can search and look up prior intent artifacts, pack relevant context into plans, and execute work as bounded, logically grouped slices. Checkpoints preserve what happened, what was learned, and what should happen next, while decision and promotion gates keep unfinished or weakly evidenced work from silently becoming accepted state. DevSpecs helps stabilize long-running and cross-agent development workflows by combining: - searchable project context and prior intent - scoped tasks and incremental work slices - evidence and result checkpoints - explicit promote, rework, rollback, and next-step decisions - repository-local and workspace-local history that survives individual agent sessions and tools The result is less context loss, less repeated project archaeology, tighter agent scope, and a development workflow that remains understandable and controllable even when agents are doing most of the implementation.

Excited to launch DevSpecs! It gives coding agents durable, local-first context to recover the thread, understand a codebase, and coordinate work. I’d love to hear what you build with it.
