Dishcount is a free web app that turns this week's local grocery deals into dinners. Enter a ZIP code, pick a store, and see what's on sale there. Dishcount generates recipes from the sale items you select plus whatever you already have at home, then builds an itemized shopping list with the recipes attached. Kroger shoppers can send that list to a Kroger cart for pickup or delivery in one click. No account required to start. Most meal planners start with recipes and hope the ingredients are affordable. Dishcount starts with the sale and builds the week around it. That ordering is the whole product. Coverage is 27 grocery chains, including all 11 Kroger-family banners. Kroger-family prices come through Kroger's official API. The other chains come from each chain's published weekly ad. Coverage is deepest across Kroger's 35 states, so test it with a ZIP in a Kroger market. Every recipe shows estimated cost and estimated savings. Recipes are AI-generated from the week's actual sale items. I'm Bill McCormick. I built Dishcount in Dayton, Ohio, in the evenings after my day job, with no prior coding background. I'm an Air Force veteran cooking for a family of five, and planning around the sale saves me $30 to $50 a week on dinners. Dishcount was featured on Dayton's WDTN.

Dishcount was featured on WDTN—and the next version is taking shape
Dishcount has had a big few weeks. On September 1, WDTN shared the story behind Dishcount and how I built it to help families spend less time planning meals and save money at the grocery store. Since then, I’ve been working to make Dishcount easier and more useful. The redesigned experience includes: A clearer path from your ZIP code to nearby stores, current deals and meal ideas Five-meal plans built around what is on sale Household size, budget and dietary preference controls Easier recipe browsing and shopping-list building Better checks to keep weekly-ad information current A cleaner design that works well on desktop and mobile Dishcount is still free, and you can start planning meals without creating an account. The goal remains the same: check what is on sale first, then build practical meals around those deals. Nice work here! This tackles a real problem in a well-thought-out way. The design is clean and the workflow feels intuitive. Congrats on shipping!
Much need it
@saifelyzal Thanks! If you have any feedback, I'd love to hear it!
Dishcount was mad because I hated going through multiple grocery ads when making weekly meal plans. Dishcount automates that! Enter your zip, see what's on sale, get recipes. Feedback is appreciated!
