When the AI listens to your engine, it doesn't just look for individual defects. It compares the overall acoustic signature against what a car of your make, year and mileage should sound like. If a 5-year-old car with 50,000 km already sounds like a 200,000 km workhorse, that's worth knowing. Mileage is a proxy — often a bad one. Business trips capture the customer or purpose alongside the route. Editable mileage-allowance rates power the tax estimate: 2026 German defaults built in, override any rate for your own country, and the total on the PDF recalculates instantly. Exports go straight to your tax advisor: pick date range and format (CSV or PDF), filter by vehicle and purpose. Single-vehicle PDFs put the license plate in the header; multi-vehicle PDFs group trips by vehicle with per-plate subtotals — clean handoff, no manual sorting. AN HONEST NOTE ON ACCURACY Recognition quality depends on the microphone. Built-in phone mics roll off the low and high frequencies that carry most of the diagnostic signal, and background noise widens that gap. Because of that variance, EngineEar AI errs on the side of flagging — sometimes calling out findings a mechanic would shrug at. In a quiet spot with a decent external mic clipped near the engine, the assessments get sharp. Straight from your phone in a windy parking lot, treat individual line items with a grain of salt and trust the overall trend. We prefer to say this upfront rather than oversell. The value is a second opinion you can bring into the workshop, not a replacement for a mechanic who has their hands on the car.
