About 500files

500files is a file-request tool. Create a page in 30 seconds, share the link, collect files from anyone - without forcing uploaders to sign up for Dropbox, Google Drive, or WeTransfer. How it works: 1. Fill a short form (title, max size, expiry 1-10 days, optional password, allowed extensions, branding, webhook). 2. Get two URLs: a public upload page and a private admin dashboard. 3. Uploaders open the link, drop files - chunked upload (2 MB chunks, SHA256 verified, resumable on flaky connections). No account, no email required. 4. You download everything as one streamed ZIP, moderate, or browse a gallery/slideshow. What sets it apart: - No signup for uploaders. The dealbreaker every competitor ignores. - Chunked, resumable uploads for unreliable mobile connections. - Streaming ZIP - scales to 5 GB per request without server-side assembly. - Branded pages (logo, colors, thank-you message or redirect) - replaces the paid tier on Dropbox/WeTransfer. - Checklist mode: "upload contract + ID + invoice" with one slot per required item. Built for client onboarding, accountants, HR. - Gallery + slideshow for photo collection (real estate shoots, event photographers, HR). - HMAC-SHA256 signed webhooks for downstream automation. - Free forever. Use cases: client deliverables, wedding/event photos, accountant intake, HR document collection, homework, freelance asset handoff. Tech: Rails 8, PostgreSQL, local disk storage (no S3), bcrypt-hashed page passwords, SSRF-blocked webhooks, Rack::Attack rate limiting. Self-hosted, Sentry-monitored.

Built this because every "send me your files" link demands a Dropbox or Google login from the person uploading. GetFiles flips it: anonymous uploaders, chunked resumable uploads, streamed ZIP download
