About LanePilot

Short description: LanePilot is the freight shipping platform for small shippers. Quote, book, track, and manage every LTL load in one place, with automatic invoice auditing that catches carrier overcharges and drafts a ready-to-file dispute so you win the money back. Software you control, not a broker, and enterprise freight control without a TMS. Full description: LanePilot is the freight shipping platform built for small and mid-size manufacturers, distributors, and wholesalers that ship LTL freight without a TMS, a freight team, or an IT department. It handles the whole job in one place: Instant rate comparison across carriers in a 135-carrier network, in under 60 seconds, on your own contracted rates. Booking, tracking, and shipment management, with no re-keying between carrier portals. Carriers, contracts, routing, claims, and lane benchmarking, all in one dashboard. Automatic invoice auditing on every shipment: LanePilot compares the carrier invoice against your original quote and contract, flags reweighs, reclassifications, unauthorized accessorials, and fuel or rate mismatches, and drafts a ready-to-file dispute so you recover the money. That last part is the point. Most LTL shippers overpay without knowing it, because a freight bill is assembled from several moving parts and each one is a chance for an error that quietly gets paid. LanePilot catches those overcharges and hands you the dispute to file. It is software, not a broker: you stay in control and keep 100 percent of whatever you recover. It runs in your browser. No install, no integration, no setup project, you can start on your next shipment. Enterprise freight control, without the TMS cost or the enterprise contract. Currently in private beta, opening August 2026, and free for the founding cohort during beta.

Receiving dock tools are in, including chargeback letter generation

We've been heads-down on the inbound side of LanePilot. This week we shipped the receiving dock module: every account gets the core tools for free, so teams can log what arrived, flag discrepancies, and generate a chargeback letter to the vendor ready to file. (The letter goes out from the shipper, same way we handle freight invoice disputes on the outbound side.) For accounts that want the full receiving workflow, an add-on tier unlocks the deeper features. The goal is to make LanePilot useful on both ends of the freight operation, not just when the carrier invoice hits your inbox.

When "clean" isn't actually clean

Shipping invoices come with a lot of moving parts, and one scenario kept nagging at me: what if the wrong documents get paired together? If someone runs an audit against an invoice matched to the wrong quote (different carrier, different route), the system could check all the line items, find no discrepancies, and return a "clean" verdict. Technically correct on those numbers, fundamentally wrong about the shipment. This week LanePilot got smarter about that. The audit now checks whether the invoice and quote actually describe the same shipment before it evaluates the charges. A carrier mismatch or route mismatch triggers a red MISMATCH flag, and the dispute letter stays hidden until you confirm the pairing or re-upload the right document. It sounds like an edge case, but it goes to the core of what I'm building here. An audit that cannot confirm it is comparing the right documents should not be telling you anything is clean.

Squashed the bugs, polished the whole app

Build-in-public update: not a flashy week, all polish. Went through the entire app and cleared out the bugs, tightened the rough edges, and smoothed every flow end to end, quoting, booking, the invoice audit, and the dispute-letter builder. No new feature to show off, just the unsexy work that turns a demo into something solid. This is the pass you do before real users ever touch it. Founding-partner cohort opens in August, and I want it clean when they walk in.

@wafler thank you! Getting closer to Beta you start thinking of everything that can go wrong. Then making all the right moves to fix it. I appreciate the comment.

LanePilot is built for freight managers and logistics teams who are tired of overpaying on LTL shipments and not knowing why. If that’s your world, check it out and let us know what you think. Any feedback is welcome.

Founder here. I built LanePilot for small shippers: quote, book, track, and audit every LTL invoice, so you catch carrier overcharges and get your money back. Free in beta.
