About The Morning App
I'm building The Morning App because I believe that joy gets you out of bed more reliably than guilt. Mornings don't have to feel like a slog. Getting there, though, is a different story. Most morning apps pretend willpower is enough. It isn't. Statistically speaking, you'll probably fail. Actual habit formation, the semi-automatic good stuff, only happens after about two months, and our brains do all sorts of self-sabotage: "I'm a night owl/just one more snooze/it's the weekend". Habit change is even harder early in the morning, when sleep inertia and cortisol are fighting a battle and snoozing feels even better than taking a hot shower. It won't be easy, but The Morning App is here to help! - Accept that snoozing on your days off feels good, but it's better to have a consistent alarm for your circadian rhythm - Find a reason to wake up. It's not easy or automatic, but once you're looking forward to do something next morning, it motivates you - Stay consistent. You build wake-up habits through repeated action, and if you don't repeat the actions, no habit. It's that simple If that sounds too hard, it's probably best you don't download The Morning App. I can't make you become someone you don't want to be! But, if you have even an ounce of desire to feel fresh and productive in the morning, why not feed that part of you, even if it is hard? The reason I started trying to optimize my mornings was because my mornings were rough. Alarm, stress, snooze, sleep, repeat, until I actually needed to get out of bed for work, which was then a sprint. I would get everything done, but I would leave out the most important part: s p a c e. Other solutions exist. You may have tried them already. Not naming names, but solving math problems with an ear-splitting siren is not the first seed I wanted to plant in my day. I didn't want something bullying me into waking up. I wanted something that celebrated mornings and made them something to look forward to. If this is at all familiar, then maybe you're curious how The Morning App works: 1. You'll be gently on-boarded to create your routine, and I'll give you the option to subscribe to the premium plan (anybody else like food?). Or, skip the paywall for free basic functionality 2. You should set your alarm time and yes, it will go off tomorrow. There is no snooze button. Ending the alarm opens the app 3. You'll go through your morning flow in the app first, and then do your anchors (brush teeth, feed cat, etc) out of bed. No streaks (not sorry!), but a journal to track your mornings 4. You'll close the app and won't think about it for the rest of the day! * No morning is zero stress but The Morning App is my attempt to add more joy into the equation. If you're curious, I urge you to give it a try.

Having fun with all the directions this can go! The testing cycle is long, but it's been rewarding.
