VATES is embeddable AI chat infrastructure. Companies use it as a widget on their own site, as a standalone chat page on their own domain, or through a developer API. What makes it different from a typical retrieval setup is where the answer comes from. Knowledge lives as structured, readable plain-text entries that you write and own. Every reply points back to the specific entries it drew on, so you can open them, check them, and correct them. There is no opaque index sitting between your knowledge and the answer, and no rebuild step: edit an entry and the next question already reflects it. The console splits the work into distinct jobs. One surface turns raw material into structured entries. Another curates and organizes what has accumulated. A third serves it to end users as conversation. Keeping those separate means writing knowledge and answering with it never get tangled. Operationally, one account can run several independent instances, each with its own knowledge, appearance, API keys, and embedding allowlist. Usage controls guard against runaway agent loops and excessive request volume. Administrative actions land in a tamper-evident audit log built on a SHA-256 hash chain, and concurrent edits are handled with optimistic locking so two administrators cannot silently overwrite each other. Two-factor authentication, IP restriction, encryption at rest, a web application firewall, and backups come standard. The console, the documentation, and the public site are localized in 23 languages across 9 writing systems, including Burmese, Amharic, Georgian, Armenian, Greek, Persian, and Ukrainian. For AI clients, VATES exposes a remote MCP server with OAuth 2.1. An MCP-compatible assistant can connect to a knowledge base and query it as a tool. Billing is prepaid and usage-based. You deposit a balance, each request draws against it, and that is the whole arrangement: no subscription, no monthly fixed fee, no minimum spend. The minimum deposit is USD 5.00 per top-up. A balance at zero suspends the instance automatically and topping up reactivates it, so there is nothing to cancel. Current rates are on the pricing page.
