Vocards turns the words you run into while reading, browsing, or watching into flashcards you'll actually review - without the manual data entry that kills most vocabulary habits. THE PROBLEM Everyone learning a language meets new words all day: in a book, on a webpage, in a video, in a chat. The words worth learning are the ones you actually encounter. But the gap between "I met a new word" and "it's a study card" is full of friction - look up the translation, find an example, type it into an app, add it to the right deck. So the words pile up unused, and vocabulary stalls. WHAT VOCARDS DOES Capture a word wherever you meet it, and Vocards builds the card for you - translation, an example sentence showing real usage, part of speech, and text-to-speech audio. Then you learn it with spaced repetition in short daily sessions. Capture methods: • Photograph a page - snap a textbook vocab list or a book page and it extracts the words into a deck (up to 50 at once). • Share sheet on mobile - select text in any app, share to Vocards, card added. • Browser extension (Chrome + Edge) - select a word while reading, right-click, done. • Kindle & Google Play Books import - bulk-import your highlights, which was the original reason I built this. • Or just type/paste a word list, or describe a topic and let AI generate a starter deck. Everything syncs across web, iOS, and Android. Study sessions run fully offline on mobile - a real local spaced-repetition engine, not just cached cards - and sync back when you reconnect. HOW LEARNING WORKS • Swipe-based review: know it, swipe right; don't, swipe left. No self-grading with rating buttons. • Spaced repetition schedules each word to come back right before you'd forget it. • Multiple-choice and fill-the-gap exercises mix in automatically. • No daily limits - review as much as you want, and re-practice a deck on demand even when nothing is due. • Study offline, on a plane or the metro.
