About Kodo
Kodo is a lightweight, modular IDE built for Windows, with Linux support in the works. Designed around simplicity, Kodo keeps the core IDE experience clean and free of unnecessary bloat, while letting users add only the functionality they actually need. We designed our own modular extension framework, .kox, which allows features such as syntax highlighting, themes, and plugins to be installed through the in-app Marketplace without bloating the core IDE. Kodo also supports compilers with built-in Build and Run buttons, and existing compilers installed on your system can work seamlessly with Kodo. The latest major Kodo update, v2.0.0, was released on August 30 and introduced improvements across the IDE, including a redesigned user interface that better reflects Kodo's clean design philosophy. v2.0.0 also came with customizability features, such as the ability to customize your keyboard shortcuts across the editor if you're coming from another editor. Kodo comes with built-in smart editing features such as auto-indentation, bracket colourization, and Insight. Insight is Kodo's .kox-powered suite of smart editor features, providing code completion based on installed language extensions, along with experimental dead-code detection and general error detection. We also recently rebuilt Kodo's Find & Search experience to feature Project Search, providing a unified way to search across an entire project. Kodo's integrated terminal supports PowerShell, Windows PowerShell, Git Bash, and Command Prompt, giving you access to the tools you already use without leaving the IDE. Kodo is designed with beginners in mind, with tutorials and support available both in-app and through our Discord community. At the same time, its modular architecture gives more experienced developers the flexibility to customize their environment. Kodo is developed and maintained by SS-YYC and KerbalMissile. Find us on GitHub through the website link in this listing. Kodo is open source and licensed under the GPL-v3.0, and is actively being developed. We're always happy to help if you need a hand!
