About Literacy Arcade

Literacy Arcade is a digital, supplemental reading platform for children in grades K–6, including beginning readers, struggling readers, and children with dyslexia. Created by a literacy specialist, it combines Science of Reading–aligned practice, reading assessments, fluency tools, customizable activities, and guided instructional tools. Activities support five essential areas of reading—phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension—and are designed for homeschool families, tutors, reading interventionists, and teachers. Adults can use built-in content or add their own words, sentences, vocabulary, and comprehension details to align practice with a homeschool curriculum, school reading program, tutoring lesson, intervention plan, or the specific skill or text a learner is currently studying. Literacy Arcade is designed to strengthen and supplement existing instruction, not replace a complete core reading curriculum. What Makes Literacy Arcade Different Literacy Arcade is more than a collection of reading games. Organized content, built-in analysis, and guided instructional tools help parents, tutors, and educators move from assessment to instruction to targeted practice—and make more informed decisions about what to practice next. Ready-to-use and customizable practice — Choose from Fry and Dolch high-frequency word lists, along with phonics-pattern word banks organized by a research-informed instructional sequence and phoneme count. Add your own words, sentences, vocabulary, and comprehension content to align practice with a homeschool curriculum, school program, tutoring lesson, or current instructional goal. Guided phonics and phonemic-awareness support — Map graphemes to phonemes with sound boxes and letter tiles, select words by skill and pattern, and work through Interactive Letterbox Lessons. The Interactive Phoneme Chart adds speech-sound audio and articulation support, and you can generate printable Letterbox Lesson plans from selected words and phonics patterns. Built-in assessment analysis — Quick checks for letter-name knowledge, letter-sound knowledge, phonics and decoding, and oral reading fluency organize results into clear patterns: accuracy, miscues and error patterns, real-word and nonsense-word performance, phonics-pattern analysis, and WCPM, with printable reports and instructional focus areas. Purposeful fluency practice — The ORF Calculator, built-in timers, WCPM and accuracy tracking, repeated readings, growth tracking, and Hasbrouck and Tindal benchmark ranges support rate, accuracy, expression, and progress monitoring. Repeated Reading Rockets also includes a prosody self-check, while the optional ORF Calculator Chrome extension brings fluency measurement to digital passages. Customized comprehension support — Choose fiction, nonfiction, or mixed-text question sets aligned with Bloom's Taxonomy. Enter details about the book or topic, such as a character, setting, topic, or central idea, to create editable questions connected to the text being read. What's Included Assessments — Quick Letter Knowledge Check, Quick Letter Sound Check, Phonics Knowledge Check, and the Oral Reading Fluency Calculator, with results analysis, instructional focus areas, and printable reports. Build & Play — Reading Word Spinner, Digital Reading Flashcards, Read & Race, Magic Word Road, Sentence Spinner, Vocabulary Flashcards, and Comprehension Spinner, using built-in and custom content with student-ready sharing. Fluency — Repeated Reading Raceway and Repeated Reading Rockets, with WCPM and accuracy tracking, repeated-reading growth, built-in timers, a prosody self-check in Repeated Reading Rockets, and the ORF Calculator with an optional Chrome extension. Teacher Tools — Phoneme Counter, phoneme-grapheme mapping, Interactive Phoneme Chart, Letterbox Lessons, printable Letterbox Lesson plans, and word banks organized by pattern and phoneme count. Student Privacy & Sharing Children use shared activities without creating accounts, entering email addresses, or providing personal information. Adults manage the account and saved activities, then share ready-to-use activities through student-ready links or Google Classroom.
