About OwlCAD
OwlCAD is a 3D modeler for people who design parts to print. It runs in a browser tab, so there's nothing to install, and it's meant for the point where Tinkercad starts holding you back but Fusion 360 or Onshape feel like too much. Everything is parametric. Set a wall to 2 mm today, change it to 2.4 mm next week, and the model rebuilds around the new value. You get sketches with constraints, fillets and chamfers on individual edges, patterns, sweep and loft, and assemblies with mates and a bill of materials. It's also built around printing. There are clearance presets for press, slip and loose fits, and a print check that shows overhangs, thin walls and whether the mesh is watertight before you send anything to the slicer. For the parts nobody enjoys modeling by hand there are 33 generators, including gears, threads, hinges, enclosures and Gridfinity bins. If you already write OpenSCAD, it can read and run your scripts. Imports STL, 3MF, OBJ, STEP and OpenSCAD. Exports STL, 3MF, OBJ, GLB, STEP, DXF and SVG. The editor and every export format are free, including commercial use, and you don't need an account to start. Pro is $12 a month or $120 a year. It adds AI generation (20 credits a month) that turns a description into an editable model, chat-based editing, and an MCP server so Claude Code, Claude Desktop or Cursor can build parts for you. Classrooms are free.

I built this after hitting Tinkercad's ceiling on printed parts. Would love to hear where the first five minutes trip you up.
