Skyen.live v1.4 fixes something that had been quietly wrong since launch: every automated email we sent was Danish, regardless of who received it. The reason is dull and probably familiar. We resolved language from the browser request, which works fine for the website — but queue workers and cron jobs have no request to read. So the quota warning, the domain-verification notice, the renewal reminder all fell back to the default. An English-speaking user with a custom domain got a wall of Danish, or at best both languages stacked in one message. What changed in v1.4 Language and currency are now stored on the account at signup, so anything sent later knows who it's going to. All ten user-facing emails render in Danish or English — one language per message, not both. Existing accounts predating the change get backfilled from the language the panel actually resolves for them, and only where nothing was set. We never overwrite a real value. Prices in email now quote only the currency Stripe has locked you to. Before your first payment you see all three (DKK/EUR/USD). Quoting three currencies to someone already paying in one contradicted their own checkout page. Replies to our email now reach a monitored inbox instead of no-reply@. If we ask you something, you should be able to answer it. Also since the last update (v1.3.3, 29 July) Mailbox login activity — webmail and IMAP/SMTP access shown together, so you can spot access that wasn't yours. A public status page with independent external uptime monitoring. Automated abuse handling for scripted signup runs, after a real one in July got past our rate limits by going slowly across two IPs. Custom domains activate as soon as MX and SPF point at us. DMARC is advisory and was never meant to block activation — it was, and that's fixed. Still one person, still self-hosted in Europe, still no ads and no tracking. 🇩🇰

Skyen.live v1.21 removes one of the strangest dependencies in modern email: requiring access to an existing email account before you can create a new one. New users can now create a Skyen.live account using only their name and a password. No existing email address is required, and no phone number is requested. During registration, Skyen.live generates: • A unique login handle, such as amber-otter-421 • A one-time recovery phrase consisting of eight simple words • A printable or downloadable recovery sheet containing the phrase and mail-client settings The handle is used to sign in, while the recovery phrase can reset the password if it is forgotten. Skyen.live never stores the recovery phrase itself—only the user has it. Why this matters Most services supposedly offering a “new” digital identity still require an identity controlled by somebody else. Your new account may depend on continued access to Gmail, Outlook, a mobile number or another external provider. Skyen.live can now be your actual starting point. This is useful for someone creating their first independent email address, leaving Big Tech, recovering from a compromised or deleted account, or simply avoiding unnecessary connections between online identities. It does not make email magically anonymous, and self-custody comes with responsibility: if you lose both your password and recovery phrase, Skyen.live cannot send a recovery link to another provider. Save the phrase somewhere safe. But your Skyen.live account no longer needs Google, Microsoft, Apple or a telephone company standing behind it. Your digital identity can finally begin with you. Skyen.live now supports email on domains you already own. You can connect your own domain, create an address such as [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]), and use it with the same mailbox, webmail, IMAP, SMTP, calendar and contact synchronization already available through Skyen.live. The new setup flow scans your domain and shows the exact DNS records you need. SPF, DKIM and DMARC are checked automatically, so you can see when the domain is configured correctly instead of guessing. Using your own domain also gives you genuine portability: the domain and email address remain yours, so you can move them to another provider later without changing your address. Custom-domain setup starts at DKK 199 and includes one year of the Starter plan. This update also includes further privacy improvements: • Website analytics are now loaded only after explicit consent • Microsoft Bing advertising tracking has been removed entirely • The Content Security Policy has been tightened to reduce third-party connections The free Skyen.live plan remains available for anyone who simply wants a private, independently operated European alternative to Gmail and Outlook.
