The right answer to a problem most dictation tools ignore Most speech-to-text tools make you choose: send your voice to someone's cloud, or pay a subscription forever, usually both. VoicePad's pitch is that you shouldn't have to do either, and the way it's built actually backs that up. Everything runs on-device. No cloud, no audio leaving your machine. That's not a privacy policy, it's just how it works, which matters a lot more if you're dictating anything sensitive. And it's a one-time payment instead of yet another monthly bill. The offline part is the genuinely useful bit. Cloud tools fall apart the moment your connection does. This one doesn't depend on a connection at all. There are two modes: a floating orb for quick dictate-and-paste, and a direct mode that types straight into whatever app you're in. The direct mode is the more interesting one if you spend your day in email, docs or an editor.
