About PodBy
PodBy hosts static sites, containerised apps and their databases in the EU. It does a few things well, charges a flat monthly price for them, and leaves out the rest on purpose. The problem Modern cloud platforms are powerful, but they are complicated and hard to budget for. Usage-based pricing, credits, egress fees and add-ons mean a traffic spike or a forgotten setting can become an unexpected bill. Many teams also need to know where their data lives and who runs the servers. For a marketing site, an internal tool or a small SaaS app, most of that complexity costs money without adding value. What PodBy offers Static sites cost €5 a month, which covers 1 GB of storage and 100 GB of egress. You upload a zip or deploy from the CLI, attach your own domains, and HTTPS is included. A pod costs €15 a month. It runs your app from a Dockerfile, from an image you’ve already built, or from a push from the CLI on your machine or in CI. You can add PostgreSQL or MySQL to a pod at no extra cost. The database runs next to your app and shares the pod’s CPU, RAM and storage. You manage environment variables in the dashboard. Pods are backed up automatically, databases included, with two daily and three weekly restore points. Predictable billing Prices are flat and nothing is metered, so there are no credits and no usage to watch. Starting and stopping a pod doesn’t change the bill: one day or thirty, one restart or ten, the month costs the same. If you outgrow the static sites plan, PodBy invites you to upgrade rather than charging you overage. Sizing Each pod has a fixed size. When an app needs more vCPU, RAM or storage, you email PodBy to arrange it. There’s no autoscaling and no Kubernetes to configure. Where it runs All static sites, pods and databases run in the EU on Hetzner or Webdock, and PodBy names these providers openly. The company and its invoicing are based in Portugal. Prices exclude VAT, and EU businesses add their VAT ID when they sign up. Individuals and businesses anywhere can sign up. How you work with it You can use the web dashboard, the CLI or the API. You can deploy from CI with your own rules, or let an agent handle routine tasks. What it leaves out PodBy has no AI features, serverless workers, edge network, analytics, Kubernetes or add-on marketplace. If Heroku, Vercel or Cloudflare offer more platform than your project needs, PodBy is the smaller, steadier alternative. Support You can email [email protected], and paying customers can also use Signal. A person replies within 24 hours during business hours. Who it’s for PodBy suits individuals and small businesses that want EU hosting with a bill they can predict, whether they’re running a static site, a web app with a database, or both.
