About Resage
Resage is a Mac reading app for the files you already own - EPUB, PDF and more - with an AI companion that reads alongside you. The core design decision: the AI stays silent by default. An earlier version volunteered explanations as you read, and every single tester turned it off. People want to read first and ask second. So the book gets the whole window like a normal e-reader, and the AI waits in a side panel until you select a passage or ask something. Why it is not just pasting a chapter into a chatbot: - Anchored to your text. Answers point back to the actual page and passage in front of you. When the book does not support an answer, it says so instead of filling the gap with something plausible. - It learns how you read. Across books it builds a picture of what you already understand, where you have misread things before, and which kind of explanation actually lands for you. Month two is noticeably better than day one. - Your files stay on your device. No books are bundled in and nothing goes into a shared library - you bring your own. - Read-through: let it work through a long book in the background and come back to a structured map of it. Free to start with a weekly discussion quota. Resage Plus is $4.99/month or $39.99/year - unlimited import, reading, read-through and OCR; the quota only ever applies to AI discussion. On the Mac App Store now. An iPhone companion is next.

Maker here. The most counterintuitive thing I learned building this: what kept people reading was not better AI answers, it was making the AI shut up by default. Happy to answer anything.
