SpecBuddy

SpecBuddy is a JetBrains IDE plugin that gives you control over your AI coding agent — from the plan to every executed step. Chat-based coding only lets you review code after it's written: you find out the agent misunderstood you by reading 200 lines of diff. SpecBuddy flips that around. You write a short spec, the agent turns it into a step-by-step plan, and you approve the plan before a single line of code is generated. Each step then executes with a diff you can review, refine, or roll back — right inside the IDE. Prefer to stay in chat? SpecBuddy adds the same control layer on top of a normal agent session, no spec required — review, diff, and rollback over the agent's work as it goes. It works with Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode, runs across the JetBrains family (IntelliJ IDEA, PyCharm, GoLand, WebStorm and more), and can drive multiple agents in parallel. Currently in free public beta.
