About PrintSocket
PrintSocket is a cloud print API for developers who need to print on someone else's hardware: a customer's warehouse label printer, a restaurant's receipt printer, a back-office laser printer. You POST a job to the REST API and paper comes out of the printer. A lightweight agent runs on the machine the printers are attached to (Windows, macOS, Linux) and connects outbound only, so there are no inbound ports to open, no VPN, and no static IP. What you can send: - PDF for documents and labels, or raw content for ZPL (Zebra) and ESC/POS (thermal receipt) printers - Bytes inline as base64, a URL we fetch for you, or a document uploaded once and reprinted many times by id - Copies, paper size and color as job options What you get back: - A job id and a live status - A full event timeline (created, queued, sent, printing, succeeded or failed) over the API and in the dashboard - Signed webhooks when a job finishes PrintSocket also reads connected shipping scales over HTTP, so a checkout or fulfillment flow can pull a live weight without shipping a desktop app. There are official clients for Node, Python and PHP, plus an OpenAPI 3.1 description of the v1 API if you would rather generate your own. Pricing: the Free plan covers 2 devices and 500 jobs a month with no card required. Pro is $19/mo, Scale is $79/mo. The virtual test printer is free and unlimited on every plan, so you can build and test the whole integration before any hardware is involved.

Outbound-only agent is a smart call — no VPN or open ports to get a label printer working. The virtual test printer on the free plan also lets you build the whole integration before touching hardware.
We built PrintSocket because printing from a web app to a customer's printer still meant a desktop app or a VPN. Now it's one POST. Free plan, and the virtual test printer is unlimited, so try it.
