Strandweave

Strandweave is a private, local-first Mac app for turning meetings, interviews, workshops and other spoken work into useful project memory. Record directly in the app or import existing audio and video, then transcribe locally on your Mac. Review and correct the transcript alongside playback, add speaker labels, notes and highlights, and keep control of the record before reusing it. Strandweave is designed for what happens after transcription. Related meetings can be organised into projects so summaries, actions, decisions and context build across conversations instead of disappearing into a growing archive of standalone transcripts. The core local workflow is free, with unlimited local recording and transcription. Local Pro adds projects, cross-session dashboards, semantic search, advanced speaker tools, richer exports and optional AI-assisted summaries, actions and decisions. AI output is treated as a draft rather than automatically becoming the authoritative record. You can review, edit and approve generated material before it becomes reusable project context. Strandweave can use local Ollama models, or optionally connect to Claude and OpenAI using your own API key. For advanced workflows, approved Strandweave context can also be exposed through a governed, read-only local MCP connection to compatible AI agents. Built for consultants, researchers, founders and other people whose work develops through a series of conversations and who want those conversations to remain private, searchable and useful over time.
